This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Estara collects, how we use it, how we protect it, and what rights you have. By using estara.space, you agree to the practices described here.

Estara LLC operates estara.space. “Estara,” “we,” “us,” or “our” refers to Estara LLC. “You” refers to any visitor or user of this site.

1. What Information We Collect

Information You Provide

We collect information you voluntarily give us, which may include:

  • Email address - when you subscribe to our newsletter
  • Name - if you provide it when subscribing or contacting us
  • Listing submissions - if you submit a space or event, we collect the information you provide: contact details, descriptions, and photos
  • Direct correspondence - if you email us, we receive whatever you share

We do not require account creation to use this site. We do not collect payment information.

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit our site, we automatically collect limited technical and usage data through Google Analytics, including pages visited, referring source, general geographic location (city or country level), device type and browser, and IP address (anonymized where possible). This data is aggregated and not linked to your personal identity.

2. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

For users in the EU, EEA, or UK, we identify the following legal bases for processing personal data:

  • Consent - for email subscriptions and non-essential analytics cookies. You may withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests - for aggregated, anonymized analytics to understand and improve how the site is used. We have assessed that this does not override your rights given the limited nature of the data involved.

We use the information we collect to send you content you have opted into, respond to your messages, review and publish listing submissions, understand and improve how the site is used, maintain our suppression list to honor opt-outs, and comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling. We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

4. Email Communications and Klaviyo

We use Klaviyo to manage our email list. When you subscribe, your email address is stored in Klaviyo's platform. Klaviyo acts as a data processor on our behalf under a data processing agreement. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email or by contacting hello@estara.space. We retain unsubscribed addresses on a suppression list to honor your opt-out.

For EU/EEA/UK users: we rely on explicit consent as our legal basis for email communications. Klaviyo implements Standard Contractual Clauses for EU-to-US data transfers.

5. Cookies

We use a limited number of cookies to support site functionality and analytics:

  • Functional cookies - necessary for the site to work. These cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics cookies - Google Analytics uses cookies to collect aggregated usage data. EU/EEA/UK visitors are asked for consent before these are placed.

We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking beyond Google Analytics. You can opt out of Google Analytics via tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, or manage cookies in your browser settings.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell or share personal data with third parties for their marketing purposes. We share data only with:

  • Klaviyo - our email provider, acting as a data processor under our instructions
  • Google - for aggregated, anonymized analytics via Google Analytics
  • Legal authorities - if required by applicable law, court order, or valid legal process

Rental inquiries submitted through space listing pages are sent directly to the space owner via your own email client. Estara does not receive, store, or process any information submitted through those forms.

7. Data Retention

  • Email subscription data - retained while subscribed; suppression list entries retained indefinitely
  • Listing submissions - retained while active, and for a reasonable period after removal for administrative records
  • Direct correspondence - retained as long as reasonably necessary
  • Analytics data - per Google Analytics default settings (26 months)

8. Your Rights

All Users

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you. You may unsubscribe from email communications at any time.

EU / EEA / UK Users (GDPR / UK GDPR)

In addition to the above, you have the right to restrict processing, request data portability, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority (in the UK: the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk).

California Users (CCPA)

California residents may request to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of sale. We do not sell personal information.

9. International Users

Estara is operated from the United States. If you are accessing our site from outside the US - including from the EU, EEA, or UK - your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States. Our service providers (Klaviyo, Google) implement Standard Contractual Clauses or participate in recognized transfer frameworks for EU-to-US data transfers.

10. Children's Privacy

Estara is intended for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have done so inadvertently, contact us at hello@estara.space and we will delete it promptly.

Our site links to third-party websites - including spaces, event organizers, and practitioners we feature. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Review their policies before providing personal information.

12. Journal Content

Articles published in the Estara Journal reflect our editorial perspective and are for informational purposes only. Journal content is not a substitute for professional medical, therapeutic, psychological, or health advice. References to specific spaces, practitioners, or modalities in Journal articles are editorial in nature and do not constitute endorsement or professional recommendation.

13. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data from unauthorized access, disclosure, or loss. No method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We will notify you and relevant authorities of any data breach as required by applicable law.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last Updated” date above. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy. For EU/EEA/UK users, material changes that affect how we process your data will be communicated before they take effect.
